What does Valentine's Day means to some Singaporean?

Valentine’s Day is a time when people show feelings of love, affection and friendship. It is celebrated in many ways worldwide and falls on 14th February each year.

It is also the best time to express one's love for another.

What does Valentine's Day means to some Singaporean?

Daniel Quek:
A Valentine is nothing like
A chocolate or a rose.
For in a week these shall be gone,
But Valentines remain.
If love were always sweet to tongue
Or fragrant to the nose,
Each day would be like Valentine's,
And we would go insane.

A Valentine just hangs around
Waiting to be kissed
Long after special days have passed
And every days are here.

So one is wise to choose one well
And chocolates to resist.
For in the midst of mania
It's nice to have one near.

Elaine Chang:
Valentine's Day falls on my birthday and my hubby and myself will just take the day off and we can relax and spend the day together. Past years we celebrate my birthday and Valentine's Day by exchanging presents, watching a movie and having a dinner at one of the restaurants together. They are of course very simple but we value more about the company and sentimental value of things. We know how much we care about each other and don't need one particular day to prove it. But this year I hope to have a little bit of fun to win a bouquet for myself because its Feb 14th - Valentine's Day, my birthday as well as the 15th day of Lunar New Year. If that happens, it will be so memorable!

Plain Jane:
To me, Valentines Day is more than a commercial celebration of candlelight dinners or bouquet of roses or expensive gifts but rather, it is a time to reflect, reaffirm and treasure each other’s love and company.

Sonia Yong:
Valentine's Day is a day whereas me & my hubby will talk about our happy time together. We will dine at the first restaurant where we first celebrate our Valentine's Day.

Ahsinoriahk Ludba Namhar:
Valentines day is a day where lovers' take time off from their busy schedule to spend quality yet meaningful time with their partner. It also to remind them that they are not alone in this world..

Renny Saw :
Valentine day is a day whereby i get to show how much i love my girlfriend. It is a day where i wear the handsomest , used all of time and prepare the best just for my girlfriend. Simply to tell her how much she means to me. Dedicated my whole day just for her alone.

Jolene Lim :
Love is being shown everyday. When your parents nag and scold, when they ferry you to school and work, etc. But Valentine's Day is a day to remind us of the love your love ones has shown to you, and to show your appreciation through gestures. It is a sweet moment for the receiver to remember forever. Even a call to say "Thank you for the things you've done".

Tin Rodriguez:
For me, Valentine's Day is a day to show our appreciation to all those people who have touched our lives. It doesn't have to be about showering them with expensive gifts. Even a simple call or hug will do. Or taking time to cook or bake something special for them

Lee Tong Phong:
This year, Valentines’ Day of the East (元宵节) coincides with the Valentines’ Day of the West and my niece's birthday also falls on Valentines' Day, so is more meaningful, 3 in 1 day to express all kinds of love to give a new spark to our relationship. Triple celebration! Triple happiness!

Sim Jw S:
Is a special day where i wanted to let pple around know how much i apprentice the gal that i like for all the things she have done for me and go through the sad and happy together. To me, everyday is a v day but this day is the biggest day of the v day itself.

Eiiqah Chia:
I personally believe it's a day to celebrate love. Not necessarily just the love for your significant other but for the love of everything. For the love you have for your friends, family, children, and pets. I think Valentine’s Day is great because it is a day to tell others the positive, happy, loving thoughts we have about them. Our life is so fast paced that I don’t think that happens as often as it should. Valentine’s Day is the opportunity to have a more meaningful interaction with your family and friends.

Kathy Woon-Tan
Valentine's Day is a day we exchange extra mushy words, we smile at each other awkwardly, and allowed to kiss during special moments without people staring.. Coz everyone else busy doing e same!!  1) During your entire time of Mr World Singapore 2022 from the time you auditioned till you won the title, tell us - what was the most overwhelming moment for you? Personally, as the grand final day drew nearer, and diet and water had to be stricter, it was hard trying to keep up with the nutrition portion as well as the rest and recovery portion. From the auditions all the way to the Grand Finals, i knew i had to step up as prior to the audition, i let myself go quite abit because of the fact that i was juggling between work and handling my 3 children. But i guess after the audition. i made a clear intent to give 100% to get ready for the grand finals and since then, i made more conscious de...

To be honest, it was when i saw my friend Stanley give the most touching proposal on coronation night. The prep process was pretty vigorous nearing towards the end, as there were many events to go for and practices to attend. Yes definitely, Im always nervous whenever there is a Q&A segment as im afraid I’ll freeze up on stage or not be able to give a satisfactory answer.
