What is Reunion Dinner (Chinese:团圆饭 (TUAN YUAN FAN) ?
A reunion dinner is held on New Year's Eve of the Chinese New Year, during which family members get together to celebrate. I would say it is an important occasion for all Chinese families.

Yes, you can say any day can be Reunion Dinner but how often do people do that? When I was young, eating with family are very common. Sitting down at the dining table with my siblings and watching my mum dishing out our favorite food, plate by plate from the kitchen to the dinning table. After dinner, my dad will normally help my mum with the washing. I believed this happened to many of us.

But as we grew older...

But as we grew older, we started schooling and get to know a lot of new friends and often hang out with them for dinner. Soon we started working, we also spend our dinner with our client and working colleagues. So when was the last time you eat with your family? We may have un-intentionally or unknowingly forgot to eat at home with our family and it is only during this Reunion Dinner we will try to make it for dinner together.

So the Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner is like a reminder to everyone. To always remember our family and have dinner at home frequently. We need to find a balance between our work, friends and family. We don't have to eat with our family only during Reunion Dinner.

Family is FOREVER!

May you and your family have a Happy CNY and good health!

Here's a video to inspire your family reunion tonight.

For good luck, all the clothing you wear on Chinese New Year should be new, to symbolize a fresh new start.

Many people like to wear red colour clothes during Chinese New Year and some people even wear red underwear because red corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. I love bright colour clothes too! It made me look younger.

Hey everyone, where have I been to recently?
Or where should you go during this CNY period?

Me, Ck and Hongpeng we went on a CNY Outing to Gardens by the Bay!
Our 1st stop is the Flower Dome!

Year of the Horse Floral Display @Flower Dome
(17 Jan - 16 Feb 2014)

Opening hours: 9am - 9pm

Gardens by the Bay ushers in the Year of the Horse with a new floral display. The display will bring an auspicious and prosperous start to the Lunar New Year with sculptures of horses amidst colourful blooms such as chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, kumquat (citrus) plants and camellias. I'm a nature lover and I enjoyed visiting the Flower Dome.

Designed by award-winning sculptors, each horse sculpture is made of a different material such as driftwood, galvanised wires or willows, with the concept of the centrepiece inspired by the Chinese painting "100 Horses" to tie in with the Chinese zodiac sign. This marks the Gardens’ first display for the new year and kicks off the “Gardens by the Bay Goes around the World” series for 2014. Visitors can look forward to an exciting year of floral displays that will bring the different geographical regions of the world - starting with Asia - to the people of Singapore.
