Golden Peony introduces two new rice dumpling creations

The Dragon boat Festival is here again!  If you are looking for interesting flavours, do check out  Golden Peony's two new creations of Rice Dumpling.  Tuck into the local favourite inspired  Singapore Chilli Crab Rice Dumpling (right)  filled with chilli crab claw meat, accompanied by homemade chilli crab sauce. Also making its debut this year is a fusion of   Black Truffle, Morel Mushroom and Chicken Meat Rice Dumpling  (Left) filled with generous slices of black truffle and morel mushrooms with succulent chicken drumstick meat, accompanied by homemade morel mushroom sauce infused with thyme. Happy Dragon Boat Festival- Enjoy eating Ba Zhang

Zongzi or Ba Zhang (Hokkien) is traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival (Mandarin: Duan wu) which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar (approximately late May to mid-June).Zhongzi is glutinous rice with filling wrapped in a bamboo leaf. The filling may include some or all of the following: pork, brine shrimp, Chinese sausage, egg , bamboo shoots, peanuts, chestnuts, mushrooms, and woodear. Why eat Zong Zi? It is to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan, a famous Chinese poet from the kingdom of Chu who lived during the Warring States period. Known for his patriotism, Qu Yuan tried unsuccessfully to warn his king and countrymen against the expansionism of their Qin neighbors. When the Qin general Bai Qi took Yingdu, the Chu capital, in 278 BC, Qu Yuan's grief was so intense that he drowned himself in the Miluo river after penning the Lament for Ying.
