The winners are decided by the activities of 1.7 billion Internet users around the world who use 11 major social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Sina and Weibo from China and VK from Russia. 288 awards were given out to honor and celebrate the most popular stars across the world and the event was hosted by Hollywood celebrity and entrepreneur Jessica Alba. The top awards were presented at a three-hour ceremony at Marina Bay Sands on Thursday (23 May 2013), which was also streamed live on YouTube from 9pm.
