The Old Factory Pte Ltd was established in 2012 by three like minded people who wanted to bring better and affordable skin care products to everyone. The name ‘Old Factory’ is a play on the word olfactory, our sense of smell. The store ‘shea’ ( as most of the products are shea butter based) opened a year later.

Pure Shea Butter

Pure Unrefined* Grade ‘A’ Shea Butter (Ghana) Shea butter comes from the nuts of Shea trees which are native of West and Central Africa. Unrefined Shea butter is what you want. Refining process leaves chemical residues and much of the beneficial properties are lost during refining. Our grade

When Shea butter is unrefined, it is yellow in color and if full of vitamin A, E and is full of moisturizing properties. It will also have a nutty scent. It can also be used for hot oil hair treatment, lightening of stretch marks, cracked heel and foot moisturising & treatment, moisturing and giving relief to itchy dry skin, mild sunscreening and a host of other amazing benefits.

Uses

The traditional use of the butter is to reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars and stretch marks, and to ease a variety of skin irritations, such as psoriasis, eczema and sunburn.

Our natural chemical free Shea Butter is ideal for baby care. It is perfect for after bath skin care and as a healer in case of eczema or diaper rash for babies and kids.

An important property of Shea butter is that it melts on contact and is readily absorbed into the skin, without leaving a sticky greasy residue, making it ideal for use anywhere.

Healing & Anti-Inflamatory Properties

The healing qualities of Shea butter are due to the presence of several fatty acids and plant sterols, namely oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids. Shea butter possesses a significantly greater nonsaponifiable fraction than most other nut oils and fats, which lends the substance greater healing potential for the skin. Shea butter contains several derivatives of cinnamic acid, a compound common to cinnamon and balsam trees. These components are known to have anti-inflamatory properties. There is evidence to suggest that cinnamic acid esters in Shea fat help to prevent skin damage from ultraviolet radiation
