Singapore Award-winning Lifestyle Blog. About Events, Food, Travel, Fashion, Entertainment, Technology & More

I bet everyone is familiar when I mention this restaurant name, Tim Ho Wan.
Yes, it is the dim sum restaurant from Hong Kong which has retained its Michelin star for the fourth year running. The outlet at Plaza Singapura was their 1st outlet in Singapore and it was a great success with lot of customers everyday queuing for their food.

This buns aren't unfamiliar to you I'm sure.

I must admit that their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (S$4.50/ 3pcs) was really yummy and it is definitely worth trying for everyone.

With fervent support of local epicureans, Tim Ho Wan Singapore has managed to launch four restaurants in just nine months. If you are still not aware, they had opened at Toa Payoh, Bedok Mall and Westgate. I'm happy to be able to attend their opening at Bedok Mall recently.

Tim Ho Wan's marquee dish, the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork has earned the plaudits of many food critics. Its other menu mainstays such as the Pan Fried Carrot Cake and Steamed Egg Cake have also made it to many gourmands' must try list. Never one to rest on its laurels, Tim Ho Wan has continually introduced new creations that cater to Singaporeans' palates.
Starting from January 2014, different monthly specials will be available at the different outlets. They will be on rotation and Patrons can try them at their preferred Tim Ho Wan outlets during different months.

Plaza Singapura Jan 2014 Specials

Dace Fish Paste Soup with Lettuce (S$6.00)

Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw (S$5.50)
The chicken meat was tender and I love the melt in the mouth fish maw.
 Toa Payoh January 2014 Specials
 Crispy Salad Fish Rolls (S$4.20)
It was mouthwatering and unique! Upon biting it, you can feel the warm salad sauce bursting out.
 Phoenix City Quail Eggs (S$5.00)
This is one of my favourite among their new creations!
The prawn was crunchy.
Bedok Mall and Westgate January 2014 Specials
Yam Dumpling with Chilli Crab Meat (S$5.00)
This was quite unique I thought because Chilli Crab is one of the local favourite!

The filling inside.
Jade Wanton in Laksa Soup (S$5.00)
 I love its rich flavours
The big wanton in the soup.
With the new outlets, Tim Ho Wan is poised to receive and delight even more guests in 2014.

Did you guys saw this new trendy eating place
when you are shopping at Bugis Junction level 2, outside BHG recently?

Well, if you missed out. It's Miam Miam the newest French-Japanese cafe kitchen.
At Miam Miam, you can enjoy a "Perfectly Engineered Meal" at an affordable price, with the highest priced item only at $18.80.

Miam Miam, the French-Japanese fine casual cafe kitchen is a labour of love globetrotting friends with a passion for food. Marrying French techniques with Japanese inspired flavouries and ideologies, the team at Miam Miam is engineered to deliver a consistently excellent experience.

It is situated at 2nd level of Bugis Junction (Outside BHG).

Love the ambience, the deco and the furnitures used!

Open concept kitchen.
You can see the chefs are always busying cooking and ensuring the best food are served.

The kitchen at Miam Miam subscribes to the Japanese ideologies of kaizen and kanban in its food and preparation practices. Kaizen refers to the practice of continuous improvement and kanban of a scheduling system that ensures lean and just-in-time production. The fruits of this disciplines approach are tasted in each plate of pasta. Each portion of raw pasta measures 110g and is then doused in boiling water and cooked for exactly 7.5 minutes to achieve the perfect bite and that elusive al dente texture.

But that is not all Miam Miam has gotten down to a science. From its in-house ordering system to its direct and local sourcing practices, it accepts only made to order freshness on each plate.

Sip slowly to enjoy the Matcha Hot Chocolate ($7.8)
Warming and slightly decadent, this drink is the perfect sweet treat for any time of day. Delight in the intense flavour and smoothness of the Grade 1 matcha found in all the matcha drinks.

Riz Au Curry ($15.50)
Baked rice with homemade Japanese curry, pork frankfurters, broccoli cheese and egg.
I'm a cheese lover and I really like this a lot! It is very flavourful and tasty!

 Miam Miam Spaghetti ($15.80)
Served with sauteed with frankfurters, tomatoes, baby spinach, egg plant, bacon and a soft boiled egg. Break the egg and mix well to enjoy.Great for two for the portion they are serving.

 Squid Ink Pasta at $16.80

The pasta was tossed in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Ikasumi and squid rings, finished with a wasabi infused oil.

 The Souffle De Nauge ($15.50)
Isn't this tempting looking? It's actually home-style ketchup fried rice topped with fluffy clouds of egg and cheese! A very interesting dish that I think you should give it a try for yourself.

Carbonara Spaghetti ($15.8)
Creamy and delicious...

 Lobster Bisque Pasta ($18.80)
Rich and creamy lobster bisque

 Chocolate Molleaux ($9.80).
Sinful dark chocolate cake with a molten centre!

 Caramelised Apple Pancake ($12.80)
The pancake was indeed light and airy. Definitely will come back again for more!

Do try Miam Miam Souffles. There are three flavours to choose from – Vanilla / Matcha / Chocolate. Indulge in a true moment of ecstasy with heavenly decadent melted chocolate on top of your soufflé!

Chamomile Tea ($6.20)
Hmm ended my meal with a nice Chamomile Tea with Honey...
I actually asked the friendly staff for a refill. So it is quite worth it for 2 cup of chamomile tea! =)

Overall experience at Miam Miam had been very enjoying. The staffs were friendly and attentive.
The food is pretty good and affordable, the highest price item is at $18.80. Patrons can also look forward to new surprises in their menu every six to nine months. Already establishing its presence in Singapore, Melbourne and Penang, the Miam Miam team plans to bring its one of a kind passion and commitment to food to the world, with more openings in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, China, Australia, US and Canada in the pipeline.

Smart Technology Improving Our Day to Day Life.

Don't you wish your household tasks can be accomplished with little or no stress?

Imagine you can sit down comfortably at your living room after returning from your day job and control virtually all the electrical appliances in the room. There are more and more people looking out for  technological devices that have human interface, which can help execute tasks and device that can help reduce costs and risks.

Do you know that the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas known as the largest interactive technology event in the world, where tech companies from around the globe come to showcase their latest products. The key theme this year is how leading companies are continually converging, bringing content and technology together to transform the way we live, work and play. A continual theme for driving innovative technology is the drive to create products which are designed around the behavior and lifestyles of human beings. This movement is to help create more natural user interfaces has powered some of the most revolutionary developments to take shape in consumer electronics. This will definitely improve in our life, making our life good!

In the past, we only see touch screens, voice control and recognition existed in science fiction movies, but now it become ubiquitous in everyday society through the proliferation of smart devices.

Now, with the advent of greater internet connectivity through improvements in wireless technologies and more responsive devices with built-in sensor capabilities, the potential to have technology do more for humankind has never been greater.

Do you still want to have such big bulky TV at home?

I bet no one will wanna carry such a phone anymore... =p

Smart Technology in LG’s products.

Home Entertainment: SMART TV

At last years 2013 CES, LG made a significant announcement with regard to expanding its Smart Control technologies within its HE products. The news included an overall refinement of the Smart TV control system which connects directly to the internet as well as an innovative reboot of the Magic Remote product for its Smart TV lineup.

LG Smart Tv- Magic Remote:

LG’s key Smart TV built-in features include Tag On and Second Screen, both of which provide easier content sharing with mobile devices.

Tapping a bundled Tag On sticker with a smartphone compatible with NFC and Miracast technologies will run an app installed on the phone. This wirelessly pulls broadcast programs from the TV and for those with LG’s G Series smartphones, the Tag On feature allows content to be pushed with the Tag On function through a screen mirroring function built into the TV.

The redesigned Magic Remote device adopts enhanced language recognition capabilities that makes executing commands simple, natural, interactive and conversational thus complementing other control options -- voice, gesture, point, and wheel -- to represent a universal remote built around human senses. With the free LG TV Remote app for Android and iOS devices, smartphones and tablets can be used to control LG Smart TVs via a Wi-Fi connection.

LG Smart TV- Tag On:

Another good feature is the newly updated version of the LG's popular Time Machine feature which allows you to record TV programs so that you can rewind, pause, or re-watch your favorite shows. I personally love this feature a lot. Gone are the days where we have to use a video tape recorder to record down tv programs.

LG Smart Tv- Time Machine:

- Internal Recording : Record shows right on the TV's built-in memory card.
- Watch & Record : record a TV show while you watch another channel.
- Live Playback : play, pause, rewind, save and rewatch your favorite shows on an external hard drive.
- Scheduled Recording : reserve a show you can't miss by scheduling a recording in advance.

Mobile Communication: UX and Convergence in G Series

The launch of LG’s new premium G Series mobile devices this year featured innovative UX features that provide consumers with control mechanisms which seamlessly blend with their behavior.

Through extensive research into smartphone usage patterns and customer desires, LG’s continued refinement of its UX and further convergence with advanced natural user forms such as voice commands offers a glimpse into the future of mobile smart control.

The LG G G2 showcases the possibilities made available through significant enhancements to the UX with powerful and intuitive features such as Answer Me and Guest Mode. Via the convenient Answer Me function, the LG G2 automatically lowers the ringtone and answers incoming calls when the phone is raised to the user’s ear. Guest Mode enables users to protect their privacy by displaying only pre-selected apps when guests access the phone with a secondary unlock pattern.

The LG G Flex also shows how a curvature arc of the LG G Flex is optimized for the average face to deliver improved call and sound volume quality, as well as a more reassuring grip and fits more comfortably in one’s back pocket

LG G G2's feature- Answer Me:

Don't you want to own a  technological devices that have human interface, which can help you execute tasks and device more efficiently?
