Today I was at Haji Lane to shop for material for Rocher Creations (http://www.rocher-creations.blogspot.com) and I realised that are a lot more shop selling clothes.
The street are slowly developing into a FASHION STREET!!!

Actually I have high hope that HAJI LANE becoming a FASHION STREET like HARAJUKU STREET!!! Hope to see more fashion stores there and become the next "In" places to visit for all fashion-goer!!!

HAJI LANE (Singapore)

Haji Lane is located within Arab Street Singapore, a lively district that is rich in Islamic history and culture.

Thing you can find there:
- Carpets
- Silk and cloth
- Fashionable clothes
- Jewellery
- Dinning places
- Cafe
- Shisha (Waterpipe)
- Handicraft

With the historic building around, Haji Lane makes a good places for phototaking and cam-whoring too! Take a walk at Haji Lane today!!!

HARAJUKU STREET (Tokyo)

Harajuku is a fashion capital of the world, renowned for its unique street fashion.

Many prominent designers and fashion ideas have sprung from Harajuku and incorporated themselves into other fashions throughout the world. Last year at Tangs Orchard, there was an event to promote Harajuku Style too and I bought a few clothes from the event too!

Harajuku is also a large shopping district that includes international brands, its own brands, and shops selling clothes young people can afford.

During the weekend, young people will dress in a variety of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, and decora, as well as cosplayers at Harajuku socializing. When I was at Harajuku during my trip there, I took this photo as I spotted this guy in the FROG suit and I find it quite cute! I wonder Singapore's Haji Lane will be like this one day? hahaha...

Today is Chinese New Year- seventh day and it is called "everyone birthday", "Ren Ri" or "Common man's birthday" !!!

The seventh day of CNY which is traditionally known as "Ren Ri", literally refers to"The Date of Man". It was said to be the day when human beings were created.

So it is everyone's birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older. It is also the day when tossed fish salad is eaten. People get together to toss the colourful salad, Yusheng and wishes for continued wealth and prosperity. This is only celebrated amongst the Chinese in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia and Singapore.

Enjoy your Yusheng tonight!!! HUAT AH everyone!!

River HongBao 2012 (21-29 Jan 2012)
Lighting up the modern cityscape of Marina Bay in a customary celebration of Chinese New Year. In a city where East meets West and modernity meets tradition, it’s an experience that bridges the past and the present.

There are performances every night (Check the timing here for different day), so you can plan your day there.

This year River Hongbao 2012 features an awe-inspiring display of over 70 giant lanterns, including lights in the form of the auspicious dragon, handcrafted by lantern masters from Chengdu.

And for the first time ever, River Hongbao 2012 features a collaboration with performers from Guanxi. Catch the troupe during their 5-day signature show Liu San Jie(刘三姐), a legend of the Zhuang people. You’re also invited to immerse yourself in the Guangxi folk dance, take part in a bamboo dance, lantern riddles, and more.

With chefs from Guangxi cooking up all kinds of authentic delicacies, artists demonstrating traditional art and handicraft, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in age-old traditions from China, right in the heart of a cosmopolitan melting pot.

For more details, check out http://www.riverhongbao.sg/ .

Last night about 7.20pm, Me and my friend, HP went to take a walk with our camera!!!

HP & William presenting River Ang Bao 2012!!!
Welcome to River Ang Bao@ Marina Bay!!!

Upon entering, we are welcomed with the Dragon Dance!!!

and of cause the Lions Dance!!!

HP took over my camera and took this shot!
Not easy to hold the big DSLR camera and cam-whore actually...

Fu Lu Shou ( 福禄寿) refers to the concept of
Good Fortune (Fu),
Prosperity (Lu),
and Longevity (Shou).

This Taoist concept is thought to date back to the Ming Dynasty, when the Fu Star, Lu Star and Shou Star were considered to be personified deities of these attributes respectively. The term is commonly used in Chinese culture to denote the three attributes of a good life. Statues of these three gods are found in nearly every Chinese home and many Chinese-owned shops on small altars with a glass of water, an orange or other auspicious offerings, especially during Chinese New Year.

Traditionally, they are arranged right to left (so Fu is on the right of the viewer, Lu in the middle, and Shou on the far left).

The Sound of Spring!!!

Me and HP decided to do our own cam-whore with timer setting.

First ever appearance of the Martial God of Wealth!!!

Guess why were the visitors crowding under the statue, some with umbrella?
They are collecting "Gold" that was sprinkle out from the statue. It was actually small gold coloured paper in fact. Chinese believed that the "Gold" will bring them good luck!!!

The stage performances with lot of viewers

So if you wanna grab good seats, please be there early!
(Check the timing here for different day)

There was a Wishing Pond for people to toss a coin into the pond and make a wish.
Chinese believe by tossing a coin to the pond and making a wish, their wish will come true.

A lot of Chinese gathered around the pond and toss their coin and making their wishes.

They have to aim their coin to hit the bell! I managed to hit it on my 2nd try!
It was quite fun!!!

And this year is the year of the DRAGON of cause!
So I will feature Mr Dragon's photo bigger amongst the other Zodiac animals!!!

Happy Dragon Year to all!!!

If you wanna visit River Ang Bao 2012, it is till this Sun (29 Jan 2012)! So HURRY!!!

For more details, check out http://www.riverhongbao.sg/ .

It's round 31 of Guinness Live! And that night at Shanghai Dolly, we have two pretty ladies, Siling and Benita! Some rules for Guinness Live had changed and I think this is a good news to all contestants. They are now able to choose 3 songs to sing for each round.

Siling came out with a cool black outfit and engaged with the audience in clapping hands.
That night she chose an English song- "I hate myself for loving you" and wowed the audience.

Wow, Siling changed her outfit for her next song. Gorgeous!!!

Benita of Team Shanghai Dolly

Benita performing at her best that night. Think she got a sweet voice and good vocal.

The invited guest judges had a hard time deciding the winner...
But a competition is still a competition and the judges have to decide the winner.

Congrats to Benita for winning that night! Jiayou Siling!

Terence, Jess, Shu Qing and myself having a good time with Guinness after the competition.
Looking forward for the next Guinness Live
