INTERVIEW WITH MR GRAND SINGAPORE 2022: JOEL CHUA (NO.8)

1) During your entire time of Mr World Singapore 2022 from the time you auditioned till you won the title, tell us - what was the most overwhelming moment for you?

To be honest, it was when i saw my friend Stanley give the most touching proposal on coronation night. It really made me tear up seeing how emotional he got while on his knee

2) What was the prep process like?

The prep process was pretty vigorous nearing towards the end, as there were many events to go for and practices to attend. Though vigorous, I felt that they were all enjoyable with the class of 2022 around.

3) Are there any nervous moments and stress factors during the competition and how did you deal with it?

Yes definitely, Im always nervous whenever there is a Q&A segment as im afraid I’ll freeze up on stage or not be able to give a satisfactory answer. I guess how I dealt with it was to just let down my shoulders and enjoy the moment. Being relaxed and just being myself because that’s what people want to see!

4) What's the one thing you wish someone had prepared you for before you won the title?

What to do and where to stand after you win the title! I honestly did not expect winning anything and so I was so lost on stage not knowing where to stand and what to do LOL. 

5) When you look back, is there something you wish you did differently?

I wished I was able to attend more of the events and a showbeit episode but unfortunately due to my work schedule I couldn’t attend many of them. 

6) For the guys who want join Mr World Singapore in the future, what are some tips you can suggest?

Just enjoy the process and be yourself! Because people want to see you as your authentic self. And im sure you’ll shine onstage 

7) What has been the best piece of advice given to you so far and by whom?

Smile more because you have a genuine smile! – By Ron Maranan. 

8) Any words you like to say to your supporter?

I had no idea I had supporters of myself until coronation night when people kept coming up to me to talk to me and giving me support as well as everyone who dm’ed me on insta wishing me all the best too. I’m really blessed to have y’all as my supporters and I hope I was able to give you guys some inspiration. It definitely couldn’t have been possible without you all.

9) Tell us a little bit about your upcoming plans? 

For now, just to focus on my work and my hobby, Jiu-jitsu. Have a competition coming up so will be pretty busy training for that. Perhaps also find more free time to meet people and go on dates!
