Spring Cleaning ALL DONE!!!

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!!!!

Are you prepare to welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year? Hope you done your spring cleaning, not like me just did this morning last minute.

For the benefit of readers who are not familiar with the practice of Chinese New Year spring cleaning, let me briefly explain what it is all about.

To the Chinese, the Lunar New Year is perhaps the most important festival of the year among the other traditional Chinese festivals. This is because aside from the fact that the Lunar New Year marks the end of the Winter and start of Spring, it also symbolizes a brand new beginning.

Hence, the Chinese welcomes and ushers in the Lunar New Year by decorating up their homes with decorative items such as red and gold paper cut-outs, couplets with themes such as "good fortune" or "happiness", "wealth" and "longevity." Further more, blooming flowers are also prominently displayed throughout the home as these are believed to attract positive energies and good fortune.

In addition, the Chinese also "spring" cleans by thoroughly cleaning their homes. The Chinese believed that by doing this traditional practices, ill fortune and bad luck of the preceding year will be cleaned and swept away to make way for the good ones in the coming year.
