Coming March 2011, Singapore could be one show closer to becoming the “Broadway of Asia”! Why? That's because Disney’s long-awaited, award-winning Broadway musical, The Lion King, opens at the brand new 1,630-capacity Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) . MBS and BASE Entertainment, who are bringing in the musical, made the announcement together on Tuesday to mark the Southeast Asia debut of the mega-production, which will cost over S$10 million to stage and produce over the next several years. When can we see it? The musical will be the resident show at the Sands Theatre and it will run 8 times a week, starting from 3 March 2011. Originally slated to open in September, it was delayed as the Sands theatre could not be completed on time, leaving some 200 show applicants — including stage, light and sound technicians – hanging. Family and friends sent off 19-year-old Republic Polytechnic student Darren Ng, who was murdered at Downtown East, Pasir Ris on October 30. Everyone looking for their facebook now.

Ho Wui Ming, 20, Tang Jia Min, 21, and Chen Wei Zhen, 19, were charged in court today with the murder of Republic Polytechnic student Darren Ng. They allegedly committed the offence with 18-year-old Edward Tay Wei Loong. Tay is currently in intensive care after injuring himself while trying to get away from the police.
