Singapore cinemas are in for some full-on excitement with these new blockbusters
There’s nothing like a
blockbuster movie to set your nerves on edge and get the blood pumping. And the next few months will see the release of some of the very best the film industry can offer, from installments in established franchises through to the latest CGI-enhanced superhero from
Marvel.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange
What happens when the world finest neurosurgeon has a career-ending car accident? He takes up a new career, of course, as a superhero. Add in
Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen and you have the 14
th film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has brought you everything from Iron Man through to The Avengers.
If you’re into different dimensions, cloaks of levitation, mystic spells and plenty of action, this is the movie for you. It bursts onto our screens from the 27
th of October.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
From J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series of books, comes this new take on the
world of wizardry. When a magically expanding briefcase is accidentally opened and releases an alarming number of dangerous beasts, Newt Scamander has to capture and return them in order to stop the rise in violence and fear.
Full of spells, stunning special effects and astonishing leaps of imagination,
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will magically appear in
Singapore cinemas from the 17
th of November.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The first release in the
Star Wars Anthology Series, the film centers on a group of Rebel Alliance soldiers as they attempt to steal the plans for the Galactic Empire’s planet destroying weapon, the Death Star.
Featuring a host of famous stars, from Felicity Jones through to Forest Whitaker, it follows the usual Star Wars recipe of nail-biting action, cutting edge special effects and tongue-in-cheek humour. It blasts off on the big screens from 15
th of December.
Assassin’s Creed
The film realization of the immensely popular video game, Assassin’s Creed tells
the story of career criminal Callum Lynch after he is recused from his own execution and forced to participate in the Animus Project. Sent back to the days of the Spanish Inquisition, he
assumes the identity and memories of his assassin ancestor in order to combat the Templars in both that world and ours.
A star-studded cast including
Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard brings this much anticipated reimagining of the game to brilliant life. And you can watch it from the 22
nd of December.
