Singapore cinemas: enjoy one of the new blockbusters

Singapore cinemas are in for some full-on excitement with these new blockbusters

There’s nothing like a blockbuster movie to set your nerves on edge and get the blood pumping. And the next few months will see the release of some of the very best the film industry can offer, from installments in established franchises through to the latest CGI-enhanced superhero from Marvel.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange

Marvel’s Doctor Strange

What happens when the world finest neurosurgeon has a career-ending car accident? He takes up a new career, of course, as a superhero. Add in Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen and you have the 14th film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has brought you everything from Iron Man through to The Avengers. If you’re into different dimensions, cloaks of levitation, mystic spells and plenty of action, this is the movie for you. It bursts onto our screens from the 27th of October.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

From J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series of books, comes this new take on the world of wizardry. When a magically expanding briefcase is accidentally opened and releases an alarming number of dangerous beasts, Newt Scamander has to capture and return them in order to stop the rise in violence and fear. Full of spells, stunning special effects and astonishing leaps of imagination, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will magically appear in Singapore cinemas from the 17th of November.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The first release in the Star Wars Anthology Series, the film centers on a group of Rebel Alliance soldiers as they attempt to steal the plans for the Galactic Empire’s planet destroying weapon, the Death Star. Featuring a host of famous stars, from Felicity Jones through to Forest Whitaker, it follows the usual Star Wars recipe of nail-biting action, cutting edge special effects and tongue-in-cheek humour. It blasts off on the big screens from 15th of December.

Assassin’s Creed

The film realization of the immensely popular video game, Assassin’s Creed tells the story of career criminal Callum Lynch after he is recused from his own execution and forced to participate in the Animus Project. Sent back to the days of the Spanish Inquisition, he assumes the identity and memories of his assassin ancestor in order to combat the Templars in both that world and ours. A star-studded cast including Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard brings this much anticipated reimagining of the game to brilliant life. And you can watch it from the 22nd of December. With the whole list of blockbuster line-ups over the next few months, there’s plenty to look forward to. Make sure you’re part of all the action by checking out your nearest cinema movie showtimes.
