No Rub? No Good?

Dear all contact len users,

I just read this article on the newspapers with some comments about the no-rub multipurpose solutions that is sold on the market nowaday. Then I just want to share this important issue for you all to take note on.

Before "no-rub" multipurpose solutions came along, I remembered cleaning contact lenses was a troublesome affair that invloved about 20 seconds rub-rinse-soak regimem.

"No rub is no good," said Prof Donald Tan- Deputy Director of the Singapore National Eyes Centre and the Director of Singapore Eye Research Institute.

He mentioned that all the mulitpurpose solutions in the market passed the basic laboratory test but in the real world, germs may still be trapped inside tiny crevices in the contact lens.

"If the colony of bugs on the lens surface is too great, just by soaking the lenses in the solution is not going to help," explained Dr Isaacs.

They advised all contact lens user to rub their lens no matter what solution they are using.

After reading this, I think I will adopt this cleaning habit. Cause I felt be it using a "no-rub" mulit-purpose solution or any other solution, rubbing will still minimises the number of germs on the contact lens and reduces the chances of eye infections. We should take care of our eyes and spend the time cleaning the contact lens to prevent any eye infection.

Have you been rubbing it?

Do you know just by rubbing your contact lens with fingers for 20 seconds does "a whole lot of good" and will help to prevent many long-term problems.

Take care of your eyes k!
