I'm back from Bangkok trip!

Hi all,

This trip was sure an eye opener to me. I had never experience their Songkran before this trip. It was an unforgetable moment.

Can you imagine walking through a street with strangers starting to splash you with chilled water, shooting water with water guns and putting the water powder onto your face. Then you end up like some contruction worker, wet and dirty... haha...

Songkran- A time for reflection
Songkran is celebrated nationwide from April 11-15. Although the festival is a time to reflect on life's blessings and to pay respect to the elders, in Thailand it is more associated with water throwing.

The word Songkran actually mean "to move" or to "change places". The three official days of the festival represent the last day of the old year, the transition day and the first day of the New year.

Tourist should expect to be targeted by teenagers and children who are armed with water guns, water hose and drums of water.

It was believed the water will help remove bad luck. But today this practice has evolved into spirited competition of throwing huge amount of water at one another.
