Discover the revamped HolyCrab at Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski

Holycrab originally offered the unique experience of private dining in Chelf Elton’s abode, more than a decade ago back in 2009. In 2017, Chef Elton decided to pull out all stops to take on the unchartered waters and challenges of opening a quaint little 25-seater shophouse at Tan Quee Lan Street.

The restaurant is excited to begin the next adventure at its new home – the iconic Capitol Arcade, located in the cultural district in the heart of Singapore. The enchantment offered by the beautiful conservation buildings of Capitol Theatre, Capitol Building and Stamford House, is alluring and captivating. The picturesque architecture evokes romantic nostalgic of Victorian charm. A beautiful backdrop with a sunlit atrium where heritage marries imagination. One is enamoured by a moment in time, caught by a memory.

The playfulness of Holycrab’s creations has delighted man more guests since its humble beginnings. HolyCrab offers bold, distinct flavours, forged by a fiery need for wok hei (breath of the wok)

Verdict

I was super stoked at the newest opening of HolyCrab, previously was located at Tan Quee Lan Street. Chef Elton is very known for being detailed in his food and presentation. With the addition of his creativity in his recipe, he never failed to deliver the suspense to me.

The main highlight is the oOoOtak/Green Mumba. First HolyCrab’s signature dish; oOoOtak is inspired by Thai curry crab, made with kaffir lime leaves. Homemade sambal, coconut milk and eeggs, the otak-inspired coconut curry has a more intense flavour and it certainly pairs with the curry. Green Mumba is an all-time favourite that Singaporeans are craving for, you are right, this dish calls for 12 different types of ingredients, green chilli padi as well as green chilli, adding in coriander and mint leaves which brings out the herbaceous fragrance, which fits in the concept of a garden; the crab tree.

The Crab Tree brings the essence of a fine dining, while the broccoli is piping with hot smoke, it portrays a garden that is in the heaven. The crab meat was nicely matched with garlic, chai poh and velvety sauce, this hype up the palette and I highly recommend this dish.

As the saying goes, tummy doesn’t says no to the desert! :P This Instagram-worthy homemade Kaya ice cream brings to the great ending of the meal.

If you are considering to have a good seafood feast, this is the place for you!

From the auditions all the way to the Grand Finals, i knew i had to step up as prior to the audition, i let myself go quite abit because of the fact that i was juggling between work and handling my 3 children. Yes definitely, Im always nervous whenever there is a Q&A segment as im afraid I’ll freeze up on stage or not be able to give a satisfactory answer.
