How to cook these hairy crabs?

The lazy method

Brush the tied hairy crabs and fill them with water until they are level with the crabs. Turn on high heat and cook for 15 minutes, turn off the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

Tips: Inverted steaming will reduce the loss of butter. If you want the crab shell to look good, please add a proper amount of beer to the water, the color will be ruddy

The homely method

1. Brush the tied hairy crabs and finely chop the ginger.

2. Mix the vinegar, brown sugar and ginger together as a seasoning juice for later use.

3. After the water in the steamer boiled, put the bundled hairy crabs on the fire table for about 15-20 minutes (adjust the time according to the size of the hairy crabs and the firepower) and simmer for 5 minutes.

4. The steamed hairy crabs are dipped in seasoning sauce, which is like hairy crabs. Cold and ginger vinegar can only be eaten.

How to eat the crab?

 1) Cut off all the legs from the crab body

2) Detach the shell from the body

3) Cut the legs at the joints

4) Clip off all corners using diagonal cuts

5) Scrape off gills and discard

6) Find and discard the crab's heart

7) You may start eating the legs first and save the body with roe aka the best part last.

8) End off your meals with a hot ginger tea as hairy Crab are very "cooling".

How to know if the crabs are still alive?

(1) First look at the crab's eyes. If the crab is flicking out, touch it with your hand. The one that reacts is alive or if you grab the small claw of the crab with your hand, the one that reacts is also alive. Then you can put the tied crab directly into the water to see if it spit bubbles. It is alive if you can spit bubbles.

(2) If there is no response, you can untie the crab's rope and rinse with water to see if the crab responds.

To be honest, it was when i saw my friend Stanley give the most touching proposal on coronation night. The prep process was pretty vigorous nearing towards the end, as there were many events to go for and practices to attend.
