Since its humble beginnings in Brazil as a basic footwear necessity in 1962, Havaianas has evolved to become a vibrant global lifestyle phenomenon and ‘fashion must-have’, all whilst retaining its rich Brazilian heritage!

Celebrated for its originality, Havaianas signature durable and buttery-soft flip-flops are till to date lovingly made out of a single factory in Brazil with a secret rubber recipe. In celebration of this significant milestone, Havaianas is launching the inaugural ‘Make Your Own Havaianas’ (MYOH) customisation event for Singapore Havaianistas this July 2012.

Attention to all Havaianistas!!! For the very first time on local shores, you get to unleash your creativity and exude free-spirited style by playing designer and customising Havaianas flip-flops at the MYOH event.

What: 'Make Your Own Havaianas' event

From an enticing galore of colourful soles and straps, right down to the decorative pins, the possibilities are almost limitless as you mix-and-match to create a pair of Havaianas you can finally call your own.

Needless to say, the MYOH experience is only complete when you get to witness the ‘birth’ of your extraordinary Havaianas flip-flops, assembled and delivered instantly before your eyes!

Coveted by A-list Hollywood celebrities and throngs of fans who queue for hours in hopes of getting their customised -Havaianas flip-flops, MYOH has amassed tremendous support and followings in countries including Brazil, New York and London. The same success has also been seen in
Asia, in particular the Philippines, as the MYOH has grown to become an annual one-week extravaganza highly anticipated by the media and Havaianistas nationwide.

The MYOH is a manifestation of innovation by Havaianas, which has been at the core of the brand since it was created in the 1960s. Inspired by the rice-straw Japanese sandal (Zori), Havaianas has retained the“rice grain” pattern and secret rubber recipe on its sole, while listening to consumers and releasing thousands of styles, prints and colour combinations befitting all occasions, and collaborating with fashion designers at the forefront such as Missoni. Today, Havaianas continues to infuse its brand with innovative ideas as it embraces consumer lifestyle and introduces refreshing and engaging activities like the MYOH event.

Rachel Ang, Marketing Manager of Havaianas Singapore, is ecstatic about the inaugural launch of
MYOH here in Singapore. “Since Havaianas launched its first standalone store in Singapore in 2009, we have undoubtedly grown and successfully established ourselves as a fashion staple of the nation, expanding to five stores in two years by 2011. Throughout the world,Havaianas has built a special connection with consumers that transcends through different generations. New chapters of Havaianas history are also being written here, with the launch of MYOH in Singapore. In commemoration of the brand’s 50th anniversary this year, we believe it will be highly opportune to introduce the refreshing MYOH concept to fashionistas in Singapore. This unique and never-before experience will allow them to create their very own statement pieces and I’m confident that it will be a hit!” says Rachel.
