Marina Bay Sands The Lion King March 2011

Coming March 2011, Singapore could be one show closer to becoming the “Broadway of Asia”!

Why?

That's because Disney’s long-awaited, award-winning Broadway musical, The Lion King, opens at the brand new 1,630-capacity Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands (MBS).

MBS and BASE Entertainment, who are bringing in the musical, made the announcement together on Tuesday to mark the Southeast Asia debut of the mega-production, which will cost over S$10 million to stage and produce over the next several years.

When can we see it?

The musical will be the resident show at the Sands Theatre and it will run 8 times a week, starting from 3 March 2011.

Originally slated to open in September, it was delayed as the Sands theatre could not be completed on time, leaving some 200 show applicants — including stage, light and sound technicians – hanging.

The cast will include 51 performers from eight countries, including South Africa, Italy, Brazil and the United States. Some are veterans from the London and Paris productions.

Ticket prices range from $65 to $240 will be on sale from Wednesday. They are available at http://thelionking.com.sg/, the MBS box office and Sistic outlets.

 1) During your entire time of Mr World Singapore 2022 from the time you auditioned till you won the title, tell us - what was the most overwhelming moment for you? Personally, as the grand final day drew nearer, and diet and water had to be stricter, it was hard trying to keep up with the nutrition portion as well as the rest and recovery portion. Aside from that, i was starting to feel a little more anxious that i should and a huge part of it was because i invited my mother to be part of the audience and i wanted the event to be memorable for her. But i guess everything was worth it in the end.  2) What was the prep process like? From the auditions all the way to the Grand Finals, i knew i had to step up as prior to the audition, i let myself go quite abit because of the fact that i was juggling between work and handling my 3 children. But i guess after the audition. i made a clear intent to give 100% to get ready for the grand finals and since then, i made more conscious de...
