My Review: First Look of LG Optimus 4X HD

Thanks LG for the phone!!! (Photo credit: Eun Tan)

Hey guys, if you have been following me on twitter and facebook, you will realised recently I got this LG Optimus 4X HD review set before its launch on 28th July 2012. This will be my first LG Optimus 4X HD Blogpost and I will focus on my unboxing, the content in the box and also my 1st impression of the device (appearance & feel).

The above picture shown exactly how the packaging for LG Optimus 4X HD is like.

Opening the box

Front View
Here is LG Optimus 4X HD with the screen powered up.

Back View

Back view with the cover taken out
The speaker is at the bottom left.

If you turn inside, you can actually see a warning sign and a patch. That is the NFC.

Battery

And this is the battery. The LG Optimus 4X HD has a very high capacity battery of 2,150mAh.
I think this is necessary as it has a Quad Core Processor and a large IPS screen of 4.7-inch. From LG, the screen is actually consuming lesser power than those AMOLED screen.

Camera, Sim Card and MicroSD card slot
Here is a close up on the 8-MegaPixels F/2.4 camera lens. It can record videos 1080p Full HD videos.
If you look closely, you may realised that that Optimus 4X HD is using a normal SIM card (means NOT MicroSIM), and it has a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The internal storage is 16GB and 1 GB of RAM.

Top
The power on and the 3.5mm jack port.

Bottom
The micro USB slot is at the bottom which also doubles up as a MHL port that lets you connect the phone to external display. There is a microphone next to it.

Left side
Note that the volume rocker are on this side.

Right Side

Adaptor

The ratings on the charger. Output is 5V 1.2A.

The other side of the charger.
Beside the adapter included in the box, there is also some other standard accessories like the MicroUSB data cable for charging and data transfer and the earphone that can be used as a hands-free set.

What is this you may wonder?
They are not just normal stickers. They are actually the NFC tags. As mentioned earlier the LG Optimus 4X HD has NFC receiver on the back cover. These tags can help you switch between mode with the NFC.

Inside this package, there are two tags. One is to activate the Car Mode and the other is to activate the Office Mode. Just bring this tag near the back of the phone (with NFC on) and it will do the switching once it detect the NFC receiver. This is so cool right!!!

What is the price and promo?
I heard from the LG people, everyone will get 50GB of cloud storage from BOX if you purchase the device. The LG Optimus 4X HD  (White/Black) will be retailing at RRP S$738 without line.

And as you know QuickMemo is one of the highlighted feature of this smartphone, check this post to see how you can win one of this cool phone!

What do I think of the phone?
The new LG Optimus 4X HD is Sleek!

I'm sure the Optimus 4X HD has raises the bar significantly for competitors to match. Leveraging on a combination of NVIDIA’s 4-PLUS-1™ Quad-Core mobile processor, Tegra3, and the LG Optimus 3.0 UI, the Optimus 4X HD delivers unparalleled speed and a unique user experience. Tegra3 automatically activates all four cores when maximum power is needed but defaults to the fifth, battery-saver core when less power is required, such as during standby mode or music playback mode.

I like the 4.7-inch True HD IPS display on the Optimus 4X HD which offers a superior high-clarity viewing experience with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Additionally, the 16:9 ratio allows for wider and more complete viewing, and the device’s high pixel density of 313ppi and Stripe RGB IPS Panel offers sharper and crisper text. Isn't this cool!

I also like the 2,150mAh battery — the largest among Quad-Core smartphones — and proprietary SiO+ technology, the battery in the Optimus 4X HD is able hold a greater charge without adding bulk to the clean lines of the smartphone. That is for sure a plus point for getting this phone right!!!

Not forgetting to mention, it looked STYLISH too!

Next few posts after I used the phone, I will talk more on the features and functions of the phone.
