Korea Day 5 (10th May 2013)- Sponsored by Korea Tourism Organization Singapore)

 Hi everyone!!!
Today I gonna share with you my Day 5 of my Korea trip!!!
Day 5 of my Korea will cover the following location:
Yongmun Five-day Market (용문전통시장), Yangpyeong Railbike (양평레일바이크), Strawberry Picking, Dinner at Gureum Cafe (구름가페) .

Photo of me at the train station.

According to my friend the Yongmum Five-day Market only opens on 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th of every month. It was so happened that we are in Korea on 10th and we decided to make a trip down to take a look. It was also so happened that they are having the Annual  Wild Grain Festival event on that day.

How we get there:
Seodaemun Station (Line 5, Sangil-dong bound) à Transfer at Wangsimni (Jungang Line, Yongmun bound) à Yangpyeong

Walking distance from Yongmum Intercity Bus Terminal.

More info:

The street were crowded.

There are a lot of local fresh vegetables selling at the event.

You can find some interesting wild vegetables you never see before.

A Korean lady making Vegetable Pancake.

Vegetable Pancake & Rice Wine Makggeoli are a great combo!!! I love them!!!

The delicious vegetable pancake only cost 3000 won.

Taking photo with the cheerful & friendly Korean lady who work at the stall.

Lot of other food to eat there too.

Not sure what is bird is this? But looked TASTY!

Are you craving for BBQ Pork Belly?
You can grab it here too!

Next stop is the Yangpyeong Railbike (양평레일바이크)!!!
It is just 10 mins walk from Yongmun Intercity Bus Terminal!

50m to the Yangpyeong Railbike (양평레일바이크)! Yeah!!!

Finally we reached Yangpyeong Railbike (양평레일바이크)!
The Railbike departs at 12pm, takes 1h10mins

Me & Lifang paired to one railbike!

Ride inside the tunnel...

Icecream time!!! Cold weather eat icecream shiok!!!

Taking a break, eating an icecream cone with breathtaking view....

Next stop!!! Strawberries picking!!!

It was a huge strawberries farm.

The strawberries there are so red and sweet!
If you are here too, you sure cannot resist the temptation to pluck one and eat!

Pick pick pick...
Pick the big fat juicy one! =)

Yummy, juicy and sweet strawberries!!!
The owner of the farm does not speak English, so if you are going there, make sure you are going with someone who can speak Korean. Try picking and eating it fresh!!!

That's my box of Freshly Picked Strawberries!!!

Always wanted to enjoy beautiful scenery of nature while cycling?
Here is your chance at Gwangnaru Hangang Park!!!

The Gwangnaru Hangang Park - Banpo Hangang Park course lies adjacent to the river, while the Gangseo Marsh Ecological Park - Nanji Park course runs through a dense reed forest. Last but not least, the Hangang Park Loop Course starts at Gwangjingyo Bridge, where Riverview 8th Avenue, the only under-bridge observatory in Korea that was featured in the Korean drama “Iris,” is located, and goes through Korea’s first bicycle theme park in Gwangnaru.

Visitors without their own bicycles may rent and return them at any of the 12 bicycle rental shops set up in 11 parks along the river. For instance, a bicycle rented at the shop in Ttukseom Island may be returned to the shop in Gwangnaru Hangang Park. Payment for a bicycle rental can be made either in cash or credit card. International visitors must show their passport or alien registration card before renting a bicycle. Should the rental bicycle break down, call Dasan Call Center (120), and the SOS team will be dispatched to fix it.

Bike Rental are quite cheap. Only 3,000 won/hour.

You may try this cycle route!

Gwangnaru Hangang Park - Banpo Hangang Park (15㎞)
Gwangjingyo & Gwangnaru Bike Park → Yeongdong Bridge → Dongho Bridge → Hannam Bridge → Banpo Hangang Park

Simply a great place for outdoor activities with friends or family!
We come to our last stop of the day!
Yes Dinner at Dinner at Gureum Cafe (구름가페)!

How we get there:
* How to get there By Subway - Take Line #4 to Dongjak Stn. Exit #1 for Gureum and walk for about 3 min By Car - Going into Banpo District of Hangang Park,  Gueum (at the upstream side of the southernmost part of the bridge) ·

No parking on the bridge, use the parking lot of Gureum café on Dongjak Bridge, 24 spaces available
· Gureum café is the only café among Hangang lookout cafés that has its own parking lot. It’s a public parking lot and the rate is KRW300 for 10 min)

Yes this is the Gureum Cafe (구름가페)! Looked a bit like Singapore's Avalon.
At the Gureum café, you may view “Moonlight Rainbow Fountain Show” at Banpo Bridge from April 1st to October 31st. It is definitely the place to be if you wish to enjoy a fantastic night view of Seoul. Enjoy breathtaking night views of Dongjak Bridge, Banpo Bridge and even Hangang Bridge from a distance at their outdoor terrace. Try to be there early if you want to get a good seat to view the fountain show. I quite like this place. Can be quite romantic there with someone you like.

Fountain show timing: 12:00, 20:00, 21:00

This was the view from the rooftop. Our luck was bad, we did not managed to catch the “Moonlight Rainbow Fountain Show” at Banpo Bridge... We suspected it was due to the rain, the show was cancelled on that day.
Nevertheless, here is a photo of the “Moonlight Rainbow Fountain Show” looked like.
Photo found from the website.

The light show on the bridge can be seen in action every day.

Here is the schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 12:30, 15:00, 20:00, 20:40, 21:20 (5 times a day)
– Friday: 12:30, 15:00, 20:00, 20:40, 21:20, 22:00 (6 times a day)
– Weekends: 12:30, 15:00, 17:00, 20:00, 20:40, 21:30, 22:00 (7 times a day)

Chicken Cutet set.

The café also offers coffee, tea, liquor and meals. Coffee is KRW 4,000 ~ 6,000, fresh fruit juice 7,000, tea 5,000 ~ 6,000, beer 5,000 ~ 8,000. Meals are also served: Pork cutlet is 9,000 ~ 13,000 and steak is 15,000 ~ 45,000.
