As part of its Lunar New Year celebrations and in line with its commitment to bring joy and cheer to the local community at large this Lunar New Year, Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (APBS) hosted over 200 elderly folk at Kreta Ayer Square in Chinatown at an annual charity dinner held this evening. Attended by Dr. Lily Neo, Grassroots Adviser and MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, Chairman for Tanjong Pagar GRC Town Council, elderly folk at the dinner came together and bonded in celebration, fun and laughter as they enjoyed sumptuous Chinese cuisine and traditional festive entertainment.

Guests for the evening included Chow Mew Yoong aged 78, who said, “This dinner is something I always look forward to. Celebrating Chinese New Year in the midst of all the festivity in Chinatown and amongst my close friends and neighbours is what I love and I am thankful for APBS for facilitating this. It really gives me a sense of belonging and brings us all closer together.”

Over 40 APBS staff volunteered their time to participate in the initiative as hosts at the event and to cater to the elderly guests – a long-standing tradition that they all look forward to year-on-year.

Also in attendance was Mr. Michael Chin, General Manager, APBS, whom together with Dr. Lily Neo and the celebrities, served the meal and drinks, and handed-out Ang Paos to the guests.

Mr. Chin expressed his thoughts towards the event saying, “The Chinese New Year charity dinner is a valued tradition at APBS – one that has become a part of our festive celebrations. This year it brings me immense joy to witness the happiness expressed by the elderly folk at Kreta Ayer. This 11-year relationship is one that we are proud to have established and will continue to grow in the years to come.”

INTERVIEW WITH MR WORLD SINGAPORE 2022 (SENIOR): S3 UMAR ABDUL HAMID

 1) During your entire time of Mr World Singapore 2022 from the time you auditioned till you won the title, tell us - what was the most overwhelming moment for you? Personally, as the grand final day drew nearer, and diet and water had to be stricter, it was hard trying to keep up with the nutrition portion as well as the rest and recovery portion. Aside from that, i was starting to feel a little more anxious that i should and a huge part of it was because i invited my mother to be part of the audience and i wanted the event to be memorable for her. But i guess everything was worth it in the end.  2) What was the prep process like? From the auditions all the way to the Grand Finals, i knew i had to step up as prior to the audition, i let myself go quite abit because of the fact that i was juggling between work and handling my 3 children. But i guess after the audition. i made a clear intent to give 100% to get ready for the grand finals and since then, i made more conscious de...
