Interviews with SDD.Vol.3 Finalist Dance Crew- E-MERGED

Hi everyone, as you all know that the Singapore Dance Delight Vol.3 Finals will be held at Kallang Theatre on this Saturday (17 Mar 2012), 7pm, I'm truely delighted to be able to interview the SDD Vol.3, Top 20 Finalist Dance Crew, E-MERGED Crew before they actually go for their Finals!!!

Through this interview we will not only get to know more about E-MERGED Crew and also find out what are their dreams and aspirations. What inspired them to dance. Hope you guys will enjoy reading it and do scroll down till the end to watch their dance performance video for SDD Vol.3 (Preliminaries).

1. Please introduce your group briefly and how many members in your group?
E-Merged Crew is a Singapore-based dance team of 10 members focusing on street-style Krump. A different style with an impact, energy, and emotion. We bring a different flavor fired up by our passion for Krump -- HEAT fam style.

2. Why did your group choose this name?
Idea came from buying at Starbucks. We think of our crew as a mix of styles but an identifiable blend --'Merged' means to blend together, combined,to rise and united as one. The 'E' is for the empowered energy and enthusiasm in what we do.

3. How did you guys join together?
Joseph Rey 'JR' and Ralph, leaders of E-Merged Crew, once went head-to-head at a local competition in Singapore. Seeing the equal passion in dance but with no crew of their own, they've decided to form a team. Slowly finding friends and practicing whenever possible, the bonding grew and made a tighter knit dance family.

4. where do you all practice? All the groups practice together?
Practice timing is tough because everyone has their own schedules --studies and work. Still we try to meet during weekdays on a more regular basis even if not everyone is there. We used to practice at the City Link void area. Since Scape was built, it had created a great avenue for us and all dance fanatics. The atmosphere is most encouraging and builds good relationships amongst dancers. Whoever is funding Scape, we are thankful to them!

5. How old are the members in your group?
There is a great diversity of age within our team, from 19 onwards. Some are studying. Some in National Service. Some are working.

6. Is there any event you guys performed together?
Some of our members have performed for National Day Parade. We've been privileged to be invited to some events at The Arena, Marriot Hotel, and very supportive Community Centres who has seen and believed in our crew..And we mostly Took part in any Local Dance competition like Dance Explosion,SUNTEC Dance, Danz WAR,Dance Fiesta, etch. (and many more).....

7. Tell me what inspire you guys?
We are inspired by great dancers, in Singapore and all over the world. It's a motivation to better ourselves in whatever we do. This love for dance we see is transfered and a challenge to us to step out of our comfort zone. We hope that through opportunities like SDD, surrounded by great energy, we could inspire others especially those who has not yet to found their passion for dance.

8. What are your dreams and aspirations?
We aim high, individually and as a family. As a crew, we aspire to grow together and earn our chance to compete on the world stage to represent Singapore. With the platform to do so, we want to bring forward awareness on other dance styles, like Krump. It is a challenge because it is different. But by learning, showing, and sharing, nothing is impossible,..WE AIM HIGH coz we Believe,we have Faith,We are the UNSTOPPABLE DREAMER..

9. What do you think is the most distinctive feature of your team?
We have the Buck Swagger! It's free, very expressive, and strong in presence. When people see and feel that, we believe we have made our point.

10. Anything you like to say to your supporters/friends/fans?
E-Merged crew extends it's BIG UPS to the only ONE above and to everyone! We are so blessed to be doing this side-by-side amongst the best crews of SDD Vol 3. We're most thankful for the chance, support, and words of encouragements we've received. And as E-merged Crew, we're thanking our families, friends and supporters for giving us the strength and courage to reach our goals and believe in our dreams. If not for them, we will not be here on where we are right now.We hope to make this an unforgettable experience for our crew and for all. So hope to see you at the finals!

"We are not great because of our technique; we are great because of our passion...”

 1) During your entire time of Mr World Singapore 2022 from the time you auditioned till you won the title, tell us - what was the most overwhelming moment for you? Personally, as the grand final day drew nearer, and diet and water had to be stricter, it was hard trying to keep up with the nutrition portion as well as the rest and recovery portion. But i guess everything was worth it in the end.  2) What was the prep process like? From the auditions all the way to the Grand Finals, i knew i had to step up as prior to the audition, i let myself go quite abit because of the fact that i was juggling between work and handling my 3 children. But i guess after the audition. i made a clear intent to give 100% to get ready for the grand finals and since then, i made more conscious de...

To be honest, it was when i saw my friend Stanley give the most touching proposal on coronation night. The prep process was pretty vigorous nearing towards the end, as there were many events to go for and practices to attend. Yes definitely, Im always nervous whenever there is a Q&A segment as im afraid I’ll freeze up on stage or not be able to give a satisfactory answer.
