Interviews with SDD Vol.3 Finalist Dance Crew: A-Team

Hi everyone, as you all know that the Singapore Dance Delight Vol.3 Finals will be held at Kallang Theatre on this Saturday (17 Mar 2012), 7pm, I'm truely delighted to be able to interview the SDD Vol.3, Top 20 Finalist Dance Crew, A-Team before they actually go for their Finals!!!

Through this interview, we will not only get to know more about A-Team and also find out what are their dreams and aspirations. What inspired them to dance. Hope you guys will enjoy reading it and do scroll down till the end to watch their dance performance video for SDD Vol.3 (Preliminaries).

1. Please introduce your group briefly and how many members in your group?
We are the A-Team from the Philippines. We are composed of 20 members and two of which are also the head coaches. The members contribute and are active in the Philippine hip-hop community and also participate in major local competitions. Most of us have participated and represented the Philippines in the annual World Hip-Hop Dance Championships in Vegas.

2. Why did your group choose this name?

we chose this name mainly because we go under the training of our two coaches whose family name starts with the letter A.

3. How did you guys join together?

We were personally selected and invited by the two coaches heading the A-Team. It only started with the plan of joining one local competition until the coaches decided to continue with the group and make it long-term. And as a team, the members committed.

4. Where do you all practice? All the groups practice together?

We practice together, of course. We either practice in a studio of a membership sports club or in an extra spacious room of a company office.

5. How old are the members in your group?

Our group members fall in between the 15-25 age range.

6. Was there any event you guys performed together?

Yes. Our invites are usually for company parties, product launches, and dance events.

7. Tell me what inspire you guys?

Other local and international dancers who have their own remarkable style inspire us. Whenever we watch our coaches or our teammates dance, that also motivates us. Even our family and friends who have been there for us drive us to do better. But our Heavenly Father who blessed us with the gift and talent of dance inspire us the most. He is our main reason why we keep on moving forward. We make sure that we put to good use and not just put aside what He has blessed us with.

8. What are your dreams and aspirations?

We dream and aspire to grow as individual dancers and as a group, to be an inspiration to others, to develop camaraderie among dancers all over the globe, and to properly represent the Philippines.

9. What do you think is the most distinctive feature of your team?

Maybe the most distinctive feature of our team is that we are composed of members with varying styles, but we can still dance as one.

10. Anything you like to say to your supporters/friends/fans?
We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude, first and foremost, to God for gracing us with the gift of dance and the desire to continue hone our skill and to all of you who have showed, are showing, and will continue showing appreciation towards our team. All of you encourage us to strive and work harder and at the same time remind us to stay humble. Your support has greatly overwhelmed us in every way, really, and has pushed the members to deliver better. In return, we are going to do our best not to disappoint. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are blessed to have you!

Personally, as the grand final day drew nearer, and diet and water had to be stricter, it was hard trying to keep up with the nutrition portion as well as the rest and recovery portion. But i guess everything was worth it in the end.  2) What was the prep process like? From the auditions all the way to the Grand Finals, i knew i had to step up as prior to the audition, i let myself go quite abit because of the fact that i was juggling between work and handling my 3 children. But i guess after the audition. i made a clear intent to give 100% to get ready for the grand finals and since then, i made more conscious de...

The prep process was pretty vigorous nearing towards the end, as there were many events to go for and practices to attend. Yes definitely, Im always nervous whenever there is a Q&A segment as im afraid I’ll freeze up on stage or not be able to give a satisfactory answer.
